MEET OUR PIG FARMERS
THE KEENANS
James and Chelsea Keenan are part-owners of YFM and own the property in Salmon Arm that our facility was built on. Not only this, but they also take care of our pasture-raised pigs!
Our high quality heritage pork is locally raised here on Yankee Flats, fed non-GMO (corn and soy free) grains and natural forage, and are hormone and antibiotic free.
This amazing family also care for the layers producing their free range eggs that we sell at our Fine Meats & Farm Shop!
MEET OUR CHICKEN FARMERS
The Russells
Cooper and Madison Russell, alongside the LeBlanc family of DBL Cattle Co., raise our premium pasture raised chicken in Loon Lake, BC. Out in pasture, the chickens graze on the bounty of the natural forage and consume high quality grain which is free of corn and soy. The chickens are raised without the use of hormones or antibiotics.
The Mckenzies
Located just down the road in Falkland, BC is Lorne and Tammy McKenzie who are the hard working family behind our free-run chickens!
The McKenzie’s raise our chickens year round, and allow them lots of space to roam. They are healthy hormone-free chickens and their diets consist of non-gmo grains (corn and soy free).
Yankee Flats Meats works closely with local farmers in the Shuswap, Thompson, and Okanagan. You can be confident that when you purchase from Yankee Flats Meats, you are directly supporting small scale local farming and the families, like the McKenzies, who make sacrifices daily to ensure our community has access to local high quality and ethically raised meat!
MEET OUR BEEF FARMERS
Westwold View Farms
Westwold View Farms have been around since 1983 and over the years, the Heemskerk and Van Iterson families have continued to work hard, taking care of their many cattle.
Out here in Westwold, BC, this family farm takes care of our grass-fed, grain-finished, free range beef.
They’ve built valuable relationships with ranches across the province, sourcing quality cattle that are finished on their farm and processed locally at facilities like ours at Yankee Flats Meats.

The Devicks
The Devick's are another family farm we work with to raise our grass-fed, grain finished, free-range beef.
Devick’s Ranch has been a part of the Heffley Creek community, just north of Kamloops, BC, for over 100 years. With six generations in business, their family is committed to providing excellent meat products to the community.
Their beef is grass-fed/grain finished diet, as well as hormone free. All the cattle are born and raised on their ranch, where they control all aspects of finishing.
Coldstream Ranch
Our third family farm that raises our cattle is Coldstream Ranch, situated just outside of Vernon, BC.
The ranch was started way back in 1863 and since then has become a diverse farm, raising our grass-fed, grain-finished, free range beef, as well as producing crops of fruit, corn, and cereal.
The Coldstream Ranch family are dedicated, long-standing farmers that strive to take the best care of their land and their animals. Our cattle here are free range and enjoy a natural diet free of hormones.
MEET OUR LAMB FARMERS
The Sidwells
Our second lamb farming family is Sherri and Warren Sidwell from Lumby, BC.
Out here, they have beautiful and lush farmland where they raise our grass-fed, grass-finished lambs.
They take such amazing care of our lambs, allowing them to eat a natural diet without any hormones or antibiotics.
And, Travis, on our YFM team, has begun using the sheep skins to tan sheep hides, a new, cool service that's in high demand and reduces waste! Stay tuned!
The Voths
Barrie and Merel Voth, along with their kids, live out on Salmon River Road just north from the Keenans and McKenzies in Salmon Arm.
Out here, they have their beautiful Crimson Maple Farm where they raise our grass-fed and grass-finished lambs.
The Voths ensure the utmost care for their animals by using only organic fertilizers, practicing no-till farming and increasing grazing time on grass throughout the year to promote a forage-based diet.
